62-year-old Ganiyu Idowu, according to the police, allegedly engages in money ritual acts. He was caught alongside two others as they allegedly attempted to slaughter their victim.
Police boss in Ogun, Ahmed Iliyasu said Idowu, on August 30, led his apprentice, Akanni, to a river bank in order to slaughter him like ram.
The suspects were arrested as they attempted to commit the crime at Oniyorin, Abeokuta around 11pm.
Ilyasu named Idowu’s accomplices as Balogun Edun and Mathew Odunewu.
“On getting to the river bank, the suspects grabbed the victim, who was younger than all of them, laid him on the ground and were about to slaughter him when the operatives swooped on them and got them arrested,” the commissioner said.
“On interrogation, they confessed that the polythene bags with them were to be used to collect their respective shares of the victim’s body parts after killing him.”
