Police kill Nigerian pastor’s son in the US

All of the deputies who were involved in the confrontation have now been placed on administrative leave.

A Nigerian man, Chinedu Okobi, has become the latest victim of police brutality in the United States.

He was tasered by one of four police officers who struggled to overpower him on the 1300 block of El Camino Real in Millbrae at about 1 p.m on Wednesday, October 3.

Police authorities in San Mateo County say Chinedu, a father of one, was running in and out of traffic and had assaulted a deputy who tried to make contact with him.

The unarmed 36-year-old who stood at 6ft-3inch was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital he was taken after he was tasered. The San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office said the deputy Chinedu allegedly attacked was also treated at a hospital for unspecified injuries.

All of the deputies who were involved in the confrontation have now been placed on administrative leave, while his family are left to mourn.

The incident surrounding Chinedu’s death is being investigated by the office of the San Mateo County District Attorney, Steve Wagstaffe.
