Osinbajo: update on what FG is doing on promises made to Niger Delta

We’re Making Progress In The Niger Delta- Vice President Yemi Osinbajo

The Nigerian Government has declared that it is making progress in the Niger Delta region.

Osinbajo in a town hall meeting at “Igbokoda in Ilaje Local Government has disclosed that the government is making “incremental” efforts towards meeting all promises made to all oil producing states.

According to him, Government has promised oil producing communities the following:

Maritime university:
FG has promised that they would open the Maritime University in October.

Modular refineries:
Osinbajo said FG is going to do modular refineries; as a result of this, he confirmed that they have released the guidelines and licenses being issued.

According to him, FG is already engaging with the communities and the state governments.

Power to Ilaje Local Government:

According to VP Osinbajo FG have talked about getting power to Ilaje Local Government,he confirmed that the contract has been awarded (N600 million has been paid)

He expressed that the project has been abandoned for over 10 years but that they are doing it and ensuring that power comes to the Local Government Area.

The Ogoni clean up:

He concluded that everything the government is doing is incremental, but that they are taking them step by step.
